Can you eat fruit and still lose weight or keep working towards your goals? Yes! You don’t have to give up delicious summer fruits in the name of looking good. It helps to choose the ones lowest in sugar so you can enjoy guilt-free!
Fruit is healthy, but still has sugar and carbs which, depending on the rest of your diet, can promote water retention and weight gain. If weight loss is your goal, I’d recommend eating a 5:1 ratio of veggies to fruits. Other tips are to eat them earlier in the day or enjoy them closer to a workout. Swapping out your nightly dessert for a bowl of fruit is also a good choice! Fruit has fiber, antioxidants, and nutrients, so it’s much healthier than a sugary dessert.

Let’s be clear- just because something is labeled high in sugar doesn’t mean it’s off limits. And testing the calories and macros in foods is not always accurate, so if your go-to fruit is on the “naughty list,” look it up and decide for yourself. Let’s not forget that moderation is your friend, too!
If you’re working out hard or have a high metabolism, you’ll need more carbs than the rest of the population so enjoy more for us! I eat apples every week and think they are very healthy – let this list guide you, not deter you!
If you’re wanting to lose weight, try going through The Fit Tutor’s Nutrition Course, and don’t forget strength training is an awesome way to get healthier and boost your metabolism.
