Detox Your Life in a Year series: January
Have you ever felt overwhelmed with the amount of health and wellness information that’s out there? In this age of information I know many of us have a desire to know as much as we can, but once we start searching, we quickly get overwhelmed and retreat back into the perceived safety of “ignorance is bliss.” It’s true. I’ve been there, but health and fitness is a passion of mine, as well as educating people and helping them get started on a journey to improved wellness! I am powering through the overwhelming information out there to help teach people how to better themselves.
That’s why I’m excited about this series that will help you detoxify your body, but slowly, gradually, and over the course of a year. I will give you ONE thing to focus on for a month, as well as tips, brands, strategies, money-saving ideas, recipes, etc to help you succeed!
I’ll start with an easy one- and honestly one of my favorites. This is something I do every day, AND it’s a super easy habit to begin.
Drink Lemon Water.
Why? A better question is why not?! There are so many health benefits to it, and I really notice a difference in how my body feels if I forget to buy my lemons. Here’s a list of many benefits from this simple habit:

* Lower Cholesterol
* Improve Circulation
* Fight Infections
* Purify Blood
* Neutralize Free Radicals
* Repairs Blood Vessels

* Colds and Flu Reliever

I researched this topic and found that most websites say the same thing, but that one was the most in-depth. If you want recipes (for hot or cold lemon water drinks) click on this Pinterest Search to find some great ones!
Here’s how I keep it simple though:
– I buy 2-3 lemons every time I do my weekly grocery shopping.
– Wash them.
– Cut a medium-sized slice each morning.
– Squeeze it into my water, and then drop the lemon slice into it.
– Drink all morning (I stop after lunch).
I bought this citrus juicer and have been making lemon water ice cubes! I’ve saved time and money. I buy a bag of lemons, and then cut each lemon in half. I fill up an ice cube tray about 1/3 of the way full with filtered water. I juice the lemons, and pour the juice in the ice cube tray. It’s super easy, and I no longer waste lemons or run out and have to skip a day or two :)
This is STEP 1 to DETOXING! This should be an easy one to start. Next time you go to the store, buy some lemons, and then add them to your water. Lots of benefits for little cost!
